Optometry Clinic Report:Saturday, January 6 @ Ensenada

This was our first optometry clinic, in which general eye screening and eyeglass prescriptions were performed and filled. The eyeglasses are being prepared by a collaborative company and will be distributed at regular clinic on February 24th at our regular clinic site. We had the help of a coordinator from CSU Fullerton, which taught us the flow of the clinic and allowed us to use various supplies that he had access to. The morning of Saturday January 6th, we had our monthly clinic trip to serve the community of Chapultepec in Ensenada, Mexico. We had a total of 11 volunteers and had 5 providers. We had a total of 3 cars that left the Stein parking lot at 6:00am. We arrived at the clinic at around 8:45am. With the 5 providers, we were able to see 40 patients in total before leaving at3:30pm. We all ate Puerto Nuevo (upon special request of our providers) until 6:30pm and the left for the border. At the border, the wait took about 45 minutes, and we all arrived at campus around8:30pm.
