Patients seen: 8
The weekend of Saturday January 19th to Sunday January 20th, we had our very first clinic trip to serve the nursing home Casa Hogar Buen Samaritano in Vicente Guerrero, in the San Quintin Valley of Baja California, Mexico. The first day we planned to see all the residents of the nursing home, and the second day we planned to see the staff of facility. We had a total of 14 volunteers and had 1 provider, 1 healer, and 1 pharmacists also volunteer with us. We had a total of 2 cars that left the Stein parking lot at 5:30 am and 1 early car that left at 5:00 am to go to our main clinic site in Chapultepec to collect supplies we would need. We arrived at the clinic at around 10:30 am. On Saturday, with 1 provider, we were able to see 17 patients in total before leaving at 4:30 pm, while also taking a one-hour lunch break at a local taco (birrieria) shop at 12:30 pm. After finishing up, we checked into our hotel and relaxed until eating at the hotel’s restaurant for dinner. The next day, we arrived at the nursing home at 7:00 am, and saw 8 patients until 10:45 am, when we said our goodbyes to the director, Juan, and took our clinic picture. We drove back to our usual clinic site in Chapultepec, Ensenada, to eat lunch at our usual taco shop, and left at 2:00 pm. At the border, the wait took about 2 hours, and we arrived on campus at 6:00 pm.
