Missed Clinic Policy

Rules for all drivers and volunteers (Regarding Missing Clinic Unannounced)

A note from the Flying Samaritans Executive Board,

To all current and interested drivers, this is a minimum 200 mile, 4+ hour drive in one day plus border traffic wait. You are driving IN Mexico and not just until the border. DO NOT SLEEP LATE, DO NOT TEXT AND DRIVE! You will have four peoples’ lives in your hands. We have officers in every car who will be giving us feedback, if the feedback suggests that you are not a safe or competent driver, we will not allow you to be a driver for all future clinic trips. That being said, please be committed to safe driving at all times.

 

There will be new rules for drivers and volunteers that are accepted into clinic.

All these new rules are to ensure that our volunteers, officers, doctors, and patients will have the trip that they deserve, the piece of mind we all need, the safety we all ask for, and the care that we openly give for our patients.

The rules are as follows:

 

  1. Drivers accepted into clinic and cancel, or don’t show up, without 72 hour notification (in non-emergency cases) to the clinic coordinator will be:
  • Banned for the next three months from participating in ALL clinic and orphanage trips.
  • Pay a 30$ cancellation fee prior to re-entry and participation on clinic trips.
  • Will not be reimbursed for their purchase of Mexican auto insurance.
  • 5 clinic points will be removed from their account.

 

In order to return to clinic participation, drivers must complete the following

1) Pay the 30$ cancellation fee,

2) Wait for the three months clinic ban to be waived or re-accumulate 10 clinic points by participating in publicity, social, fundraising events, etc.

 

  1. Volunteers accepted into clinic and cancel, or don’t show up, without 72 hour notification (in non-emergency cases) to the clinic coordinator will be:
  • Banned for the next month from participating in clinic.
  • The volunteer will not be reimbursed for their 30$ clinic fee.
  • Lastly, 4 clinic points will be removed from their account.

 

In order to return to clinic participation, volunteers must complete the following

1) Pay the 30$ cancellation fee,

2) Wait for the three months clinic ban to be waived or accumulate a total of 8 points.
