Clinic Report: April 21, 2018 @ Ensenada

The morning of Saturday April 21, we had our monthly clinic trip to serve the community of Chapultepec in Ensenada, Mexico. We had a total of 14 volunteers and had 3 providers, 1 pharmacists, and 12 dentists also volunteer with us. We had a total of 5 cars that left the Stein parking lot at 6:45 am and 1 early car that left at 5:30 to organize and set up the clinic before everyone arrived. We arrived at the clinic at around 9:00 am. With the 3 providers, we were able to see 20 patients in total before leaving at 2:25 pm. We all ate at the usual taco shop until 3:30 pm and the left for the border. At the border, the wait took about 15 minutes for Sentri, 30 mins for Ready, and an hour for All-traffic lane, and we all arrived at campus around 6:307:15, and 8:30 pm.

 

Clinic Report: April 7th, 2018 @ RANCHO DE LOS NIÑOS

The morning of Saturday 4/7, we had our Orphanage Clinic Trip to serve the children in Rancho de los Ninos in Mexico. We had a total of 9 volunteers and had 1 provider as well. We had a total of 2 cars that left the Stein parking lot around 6:30 am and 1 early car that left at 6 am to pick up materials from regular clinic to bring to the Orphanage. We arrived at the clinic at around 9 am. With the 1 provider, we were able to see 10 patients in total before leaving at 1:30 pm. We ate at a Panaderia nearby and then left for the border (one car went back to the regular clinic to drop off some supplies). At the border, the wait took about 2 hours and we all arrived at campus around 6:30 pm (early car) and 8:30 pm (late car).

The specific room will be posted on the Flying Sams Facebook page shortly before the event – this is a clinic point event that will be repeated weekly!

Rubio’s Fundraiser

When: Wednesday, April 25 from 2 pm – 9 pm

Where:  Rubio’s @ 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa

Come get some tacos and hang with friends at Rubio’s! They will donate 20% of proceeds to Flying Sams! Since it is a little bit of a drive (~15 minutes) attendees will receive 2 Clinic Points for attending and emailing a picture of their receipt to fs.ucsd@gmail.com .

A ride document is attached to make getting there easier. Rides will be leaving at 7 pm from Price Center Loop. All information is on the flyer. Please present the flyer or a picture of the flyer when purchasing food. Hope to see you there!

Return of the Thrifty Thursday!!

When: Thursday, April 19, from 12-3 pm

Where: Library Walk

Flying Sams’ will be participating in the Thrifty Thursday event! We’ll need help with from setting up at 11:30 AM to clean up at 3 PM as well! There are one hour shifts and 30 minute shifts which will count for 0.5 clinic point, so volunteering for 1 hour total is equal to 1 clinic point! And you can earn up to 3 clinic points!
